| Marginal by Rhina Espaillat Source: Playing At Stillness (2005), p. ? Press: Truman State University Press Like the poor everywhere the poem lives, if it lives by wit and pluck. it looks over the trash put out by the five senses-- those rich neighbors-- and uses what it can like wool from an old sweater it warms itself by dancing, amuses the crowds waiting in line for movie tickets It walks against the wind, thinking of summer, teaching itself to sing. ------------------------------------ This poem is nominated Best Poem of Year 2005 for 2nd Muses Prize. ---------------------------- Copyright belongs to Rhina Espaillat.
