| ------------------------------------------- Awaken by Joseph Farley Source: Wolf Poems (2000) There is treasure to be found in these mountains (or so it is told): veins of copper, silver and gold. But the mountain is still a mountain and must be carved or blasted into something more manageable. Hear the ringing fo pick axes; the rumble of gun powder. The mountain cracks like an egg, and a thousand million birds with golden wings and silver beaks fly out, cluttering the sky. with gems. -------------------------------------- |
