A HOUSE IN A COUNTRY TOWN by Sam Silva (North Carolina) Sweet acre of wind! Sweet lot where summer slowly cools and leaves first gather near the pole on lovely streets that harbor fools in a view that the kitchen window meets in lifting up the world outside to the tears that shape the happy soul whereof the seasons lived and died! ------------------------------------ SUNSHINE ON THE HEELS OF THE RAIN by Sam Silva (North Carolina) Smoke a steamy cigarette! In as much as the heart is strange it was you dark comforter dark day of regret with your deluge and clouds and thunder stirring my sorrow to tears and release. Then the gaudy Sun opened up the yard and garden to a picture like TV. Endless days of this dry summer in the city slippery and slick laughable wonder of how the candle soaked the wick in this our smoky hour of peace! |
