Sample Poem 1: LOVE OF MY LIFE Love of my life Don't leave me alone To be lost and afraid Without a home. For home is with you Wherever we are You're my shoulder to lean on My port in the storm. You encourage my dreams You don't make me small If I start to stumble You help break my fall We've grown together My soul you feed For being there always You are my friend indeed The love of my life. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This poem (Love Of My Life) I wrote for my husband of 18 1/2 years. He always encourages me in anything I want to do, and he supports me when I'm feeling down. This poem is nominated Best Poem of Year 2005 for the 2nd Muses Prize - Poetry. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sample Poem #2 MY LITTLE ANGEL You are my little angel When you're sound asleep Dreaming of dogs and cats And bouncing balls Your day was spent exploring Learning more about your world Finding sticks and stones And "why does a car go?" And how far the rock was hurled. Inside you look for boxes And pots and pans to bang Give me the keys, won't you please Where's the doorbell I just rang? Now the house is quiet My thoughts are running deep You are my little angel When you're sound asleep. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- This poem, (My Little Angel) was written about my son, my miracle child Steven. He was into everything, and very curious. And when he would sleep, he was the best angel ever. -------------------------------------------------------- Sample Poem #3 STAND ON A MOUNTAIN Stand on a mountain And look all around Its greatness opens you To wonders to be found You are not small You are as great as you seem So stop your humility And let yourself be Rise up with the sun And start the new day Life is for living A beautiful day Walk along the ocean And hear the crashing waves And deep within your soul This peace inside it saves. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This poem (Stand On A Mountain) was written because I lived in Colorado, surrounded by the most beautiful mountains. When I would stand on top of a mountain top, I would look at the beauty that surrouned me. It was also the same for me when I would go to the beach, and see the waves...Most of my poetry was written either in the mountains of Colorado, and the Coast of Central California. ---------------------------------------------------- Sample Poem #4 MY DAD, MY HERO, MY FRIEND Who is my inspiration, my champion, my friend, and my hero? In time of need, in time of love, in time of scolding Who would give me advice, who would give You peace of mind Who would make sure that you never lied, or started a fight Who would give me a hug, even if I didn't deserve it Who would buy me things Even if it wasn't what I needed Who would spank, but be gentle when he did Who had to get sick and die Even though he didn't want to We had our last holiday together, Easter 1975 Who sat at the table, strong and stable Who was willing to pass the peas Who sat there and told, jokes, and laughed like There was nothing wrong He looks around, memorizing everyone's face As if he was engraving it in his brain You would never know the pain he felt As you look at his face that had a smile Ear to ear I would give anything to see that look one more time Photos don't do him just You have to believe But who is the person, Who is loved so well And missed by many He's my Dad, my hero, my friend. This poem (My Dad, My Hero, My Friend) was written about my father. I have several of them, but this one tells you that he was more then just a father, he was my hero and my friend. My father has been gone now for 36 years. I was 11 when he left us. I have always felt a strong presense and I truly believe that my father is with me all the time. ----------------------------------------------------- Sample Poem #5 Music of Angels A choir singer I may be, Struggling to find the Difficult note. A human voice That fails more than prevails. Will I ever have a voice worthy To reach Heaven's gates? To join the music of Angels In the strains of eternal love? -------------------------------------------------------------- This poem ( Music of Angels) I wrote because not only do I love to sing, but I often wondered if my voice was good enough. My voice also fails me more then I care for it to. --------------------------------------------------------- Sample Poem #6 More Than We Can Bear It has been a known thought To many of us, That God does not send More than we can bear. Our hearts will mend After the storm has passed, As long as we keep God in our heart. God holds us in His palm. Love, faith and trust make us one, Even though there are days that Bring pain and The burden of life's trials, We must have faith in His ways. We will triumph once the fear has passed. God tells us to pray and to remember to love, Because it will make us stronger To know that God is always near, To help us, To guide us, To give us strength whenever we are weak. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This poem ( More Than We Can Bear) I wrote because I was often told in my life that God doesn't give us more than we can bear. As a Christian, and being that I do my best to walk the Christian life, I know now when something happens it isn't going to be anything that I won't be able to handle. Because ultimately, God doesn't give me more than I can bear. |
