The Birds by Peter Fifield (Submitted to Muses Review - Rate My Poem Contest) Cool high wings at their ease pushing dawn's uncertain air. Sweeping over the whispering leaves in winged victory this day to share. All adrift floating high, higher, a breathless dazzle of airy flight. A soothing labor of such passionate desire, gracefully sighing through blue and white. To witness these silent feathered Ghosts, and what holds them as their thrall. A flock of skyward beckoned hosts, stretching across heaven's invisible wall. But Alas! They must surely alight upon this firm and solid gravity; To settle upon branches in joyous respite, waiting for the call from heaven's high cavity. ----------------------------------------------- Note: This is to certify that my poem is original and my own work. ------------------------------------- Reader's Rating: 4.5 First rated: Nov 20, 2005, Sun Reader's Rating: 3 |
