Muses  Prize  -Poetry    
I. Categories: 
* Best Poetry Book of the Year - Female Poet
* Best Poetry Book of the Year - Male Poet 
* Best Poem Chapbook of the Year - Male Poet 
* Best Poem Chapbook of the Year - Female Poet
* Best Poem of the Year - Male Poet 
* Best Poem of the Year- Female Poet   

II. Objectives:
1. To encourage more poets to write poetry
2. To encourage more poets to publish poetry books
3. To boost the sales of poetry books that are worth reading.

General Rules: 
A. Any nationality (regardless of sexual orientation, skin color, political beliefs, gender, age, etc.) who have published a poetry book/chapbook/ ebook in the English language in the year 2005 
B. Americans (Native Americans, Asian-Americans, African-Americans, European/Caucasian, Latino/South American) are welcome to submit a poetry book/chapbooks/ebooks published in 2005
C. Anthologies with poetry collection with different poets are not allowed. Anthologies with poetry collection by a single living poet are allowed. 
D. Chapbooks are not allowed for the Best Poetry Book of the Year. 
Chapbooks are allowed for the Best Poetry Chapbook of the Year. 
E. Poetry books should have pages from a minimum of 50 pages and above.  Chapbooks are 49 pages and below.  
F. Books, based on translation of poems of other poets, are not allowed. 
G. Books, based on English translation of non-English poems composed by the poet himself, are allowed.  For example, if the poet composed the poems in Spanish and then translate his OWN poems to English. This book will be allowed.
H. Submit short biography.
I. One does not have to be a literary major to be eligible. One can be a physics, chemistry, economics, nursing, etc. as long as your poetry book is published in the year required.
J. A poet can win   five times or more in any category for the Best Poetry Book or Best Poem Chapbook or Best Poem of the Year or Best Poet of Year but only once for Best New Poet of Year.
K.  If the poet wins 5 times, the poet will be elected to the "Muses' Hall of Fame for Poets".
L.. In cases, when the competition is very tough, we can declare two winners in the categories of Best Poetry Book, Best Chapbook, Best Poem and at the most 5 runner-ups. 
M.. No posthumous awards will be given to a dead poet. 
N.. Deadline of submission of poetry books:  
i. December 31, 2005 for poetry books,chapbooks published/released from Jan 1, 2005 to June 30, 2005. ii. . March 31, 2006 for poetry books/chapbooks published/released from July 1, 2005 to December 31, 2005.  
O. Submit poetry books/chapbooks for reviews to: 
Muses Review - Poetry/  2267 Woodranch Road San Jose, California 95131 USA 
P. All poetry books/chapbooks/poems that are submitted will not be returned. 
Q. Prize: Publicity and trophy/plaque, no cash prize for the mean time.
Cash prize will be announced later. 
During ancient times, the laurel leaf was a sufficient prize for the best poet.  

R. Shortlist of winners to be announced on June 5, 2006. 
S. Announcement of Muses' Prize for Best Poetry Book : July 5, 2006.

U. Entry fee/Reading fee for Muses Prize-Poetry:
i. Best Poem of Year: no entry fee (By nomination)
ii. Best Chabook of Year:  $5 per chapbook
iii. Best Poetry Book: $15 per poetry book 

Entry  fee of 15$  includes 1-year homepage in Muses Review.

V. Decision of the judge of panel is final.
