Let me know what you think. Thanks. Sincerely, Joseph ------------------------------------------- Of Austin, TX, Billie Holiday, and Peter Paul Rubens (for Krysten) by Joseph Powell Source: Mofo' Risin' (2004) It's her face I remember; The light of the Austin sun reflected in her smile; Her hair, a golden mane, crowning this earthly angel. She sang to me, "Good Morning Heartache" like Billie Holiday that made my heart ache with longing just to hear it. And her body, voluptuous, sumptuous, as if Rubens had made one of his creations come to life. She was my moonlight serenade as we celebrated an April night in the Paris of our minds, our interlocked souls and intertwined bodies-- she, breaking me of my virgin shell, making me feel like a love poem I could never write. She is the beautiful memory that haunts me even now five years hence upon my return to that city of music and poetry where heartache welcomes me home and bids me sit down. ----------------------------------- |
