Sincerely, Joseph ------------------------------------------- Thoughts Turn To Earl (On Your 40th Birthday) by Joseph Powell Source: Mofo' Risin' (2004) My brother, Soul brother #1 In my book; Childhood best Friend-- Head taller, Heart stronger; Had me By a year. You were Batman To my Robin, In next door yard-- Our field of dreams. You had the girls, But I made you laugh. My inspiration For being a writer, For becoming a man, Though we didn't know it at the time. Then, it was about comic books and sneakin' into movies; Dreams of workin' the rails and seeing the sights; Of endless summer days and mystery theater nights, and the radio show that would've been a hit if we had been old enough. And like Stevie sang, I wish those days could come back once more, why did those days ever have to go. And I flash to the present and wonder where you are and how you are, my forever brother, and if your thoughts ever turn to me. -------------------------------------- |
