| QUEEN OF THE SKIES by Jerry Bradford (Poem submitted previously to Rate My Poem Contest) Soaring high above the trees Graceful, strong and regal Commanding in flight, riding the breeze The majestic Golden Eagle Where she treads, she leaves no trace The bird who is queen of the sky Silent in flight like a rocket in space To see her brings a tear to one's eye The power she shows, she dives at her prey The peaceful dance as she soars She chases the sun across the sky each day And guarding America's shores Mother, protector, and symbol of power She captures the spirit of our land Perched atop a golden tower We look to her for strength as we stand Against evil, those who would do us harm She shines like a beacon in the night To our sword of justice, she is the arm That wields it in the fight More than a bird, she is our spirit America's strength and pride When some see the eagle, they often fear it Let our enemies tremble inside -------------------------------------------------------- Monday, Oct 31, 2006 Editor's Rating: 5 Average Reader's Rating: 19 / 6 = 3.16 Number or raters: 6 Ratings: 5,2, 1, 2, 5, 4 |
