Thanks! :) Laura ********************** 1. MR: How does it feel to win a major trophy category in the 1st Muses Prize-Poetry? LS: Fantastic! I was absolutely thrilled when I heard the news and quite surprised. 2. MR: Did you expect one of your poems to be nominated but the poem was never nominated? If yes, which poem? LS: Two of my poems were nominated from my trophy-winning chapbook CAT DAZE. One won a gold medal and the other a silver medal. Another wonderful surprise! 3. MR: Were you expecting one of your poems to win the Best Poem of Year 2004 but the poem did not win? If yes, which poem? LS: No, winning one trophy and 2 medals was more than enough to make my day! 4. MR: What are your plans right now after you find out you won a major trophy category in the "1st Muses Prize-Poetry" ? Are you planning to publish more poem books and/or poem chaps for this year's 2nd Muses Prize- Poetry? LS: Since June I have been very busy promoting my new poetry book THE YEAR OF THE CAT: NEW POEMS published by Artemesia Publishing. It has been nominated for the Pulitzer Prize and several of the poems in it have received 6 Pushcart Award nominations so far. Book sales have been very strong to bookstores and libraries across the country and on amazon.com. And I just found out it will be featured in the January 2006 issue of CAT FANCY magazine. I have also entered this book in the 2nd Muses competition for Best Poetry Book of the Year 2005. 5. MR: If asked to be a poetry judge in the near future, are you willing to be a judge of Muses Prize- Poetry? LS: I am flattered to be asked, but at this time I am too busy to take on such an awesome task. I am currently finishing up my Collected Poems (CATS AND CHRYSANTHEMUMS: NEW & COLLECTED POEMS, 1987-2005), which will be published by Kittyfeather Press (www.kittyfeatherpress.blogspot.com). Then my next poetry collection (KITTEN KRAZY) and two of my novellas in verse (THE CAT LADY and CATNIP) will be published by Artemesia Publishing over the next 3 years. So you can see my plate is more than full at the moment. But thanks anyway! ---------------------------------- Editor's Note: Laura Stamps won the "1st Muses Prize - Best Poem Chap of Year 2004 - Female Category". Her poem chap is entitled, Cat Daze. |

| Interview #4: Randy L. Redmond (from Illinois, USA) From: "Randy Redmond" To: "'muses review'" Subject: RE: Winners' Interview Date: Tue, 15 Nov 2005 19:51:50 -0600 Hi Andrew, I answered the questions below. Thanks again, Randy This is an interview for the trophy winners in the 1st Muses Prize - Poetry. Winners' Interview: 1. How does it feel to win a major trophy category in the 1st Muses Prize-Poetry? RR: Wow, it feels great. There were several other good books to go up against. That makes it more satisfying. I would like to thank Muses Review for this honor. 2. MR: Did you expect one of your poems to be nominated but the poem was never nominated? If yes, which poem? RR: Yes, A flash of Memories. I thought it was one of my best but also know that it is more of a personal written poem so maybe you would need to know the story around it to understand the feelings involved for it to be nominated. 3. MR: Were you expecting one of your poems to win the Best Poem of Year 2004 but the poem did not win? If yes, which poem? RR: Yes, Since The Creek seemed to be a favorite of many people I thought it may have a chance to win. But I am glad everyone enjoys it. 4. MR: What are your plans right now after you find out you won a major trophy category in the "1st Muses Prize-Poetry" ? RR: I think now maybe some of places I sent my book may take me more seriously now that I have won an award. I hope to gain readers to my book and more exposure-I may send it to Oprah's book club now. 5. MR: Are you planning to publish more poem books and/or poem chaps for this year's 2nd Muses Prize- Poetry ? RR: I not sure if I will be able to this year. I am in the process of moving to Indianapolis in the next few months so I haven't written that often lately. 6. MR: If asked to be a poetry judge in the near future, are you willing to be a judge of Muses Prize- Poetry? RR: Yes, I would love to do it. It means a lot to even be considered. Good luck again to your literary career in poetry or prose. Thanks, Andrew Angus Editor Muses Review ------------------------------------------ Editor's Note: Randy L. MR: How does it feel to win a major trophy category in the 1st Muses Prize-Poetry? JF: I'm tickled pink. I salivate over any form of recognition. 2. MR: Did you expect one of your poems to be nominated but the poem was never nominated? If yes, which poem? JF: I'm satisfied with what was nominated and what won, but I feel there were other poems in "Suckers" that were of value such as XiuXi and Birds. 3. MR: Were you expecting one of your poems to win the Best Poem of Year 2004 but the poem did not win? If yes, which poem? JF: I always have high hopes and low expectations. Any award borders on the miraculous. 4. MR: What are your plans right now after you find out you won a major trophy category in the "1st Muses Prize-Poetry" ? JF: "I'm going to Disney World!" but only if there's an honorarium. More likely, there will be no major changes in my life. I'll keep plodding along with my writing. MR: Are you planning to publish more poem books and/or poem chaps for this year's 2nd Muses Prize- Poetry ? JF: Yes. I'll send more work to Muses Review in the near future.
