SAD VISITOR

by Charles P. Ries
Source:
The Last Time, (2005)  p.24

  She'd come sometimes
  at the oddest moments.
Popping up out of no where.

Visiting last night in my dream
she wore only a purple bra, garter and stockings.
  Even her small triangular tuft
              of pubic hair was purple.

  It always surprised me
when she appeared in just this way.

I ran my hand over the soft
              curve of her ass.
She touched my face and I could
              see she was sad.
Sad to be visiting  in this lost lover's shadow.

In a blink I am carried to the street below
  her downtown apartment.
  We yearn for each other,
but she does not invite me in
as we slowly evaporate into night mists
                          sailing home to empty bodies.

Poet's Inspiration  Behind The Poem "Sad Visitor":
I had just broken up with a woman I had dated for two years, and one night she appeared in my dream.
