------------------------------------------ LOVE LETTERS Source: Captivated In the Heart of Love & Romance He wrote me love letters To sweep me off my feet Of places he would take me Or erotic magic when we meet I'd wait for Mr. Postman And a letter from my man How he would kiss me softly And touch me with his hands I'd write back to him Loving thoughts of what I missed I'd write about tomorrow And anticipate that next kiss He would use little phrases Like "Pounding rod in a hurry" I'd smile as I read them The answered back--not to worry I'd save each love letter My man was really quite a flirt Tucked away in a special box With his worn out welding shirt Whenever I did miss him I'd read them one by one A romance by little letters Until the job was done Then, when he did return Two hearts were set on fire And not a word was spoken Who knows what hearts desire It started with love letters He swept me off my feet All places create a magic Erotic moments when we meet Anne Shiever-Copyright 2000 -------------------------------------------- Editor's rating: (not yet rated) Reader's rating: 5 laurels out of 5 laurels. -------------------------------------------------- Note: This poem "Love Letters" is nominated "Best Poem of Year 2005 for 2nd Muses Prize - Poetry" ----------------------------------------- A RHYME FOR RAP Source: Captivated In the Heart of Love and Romance (2005) I had a premonition That I'd get recognition When I made the decision To exercise my ambition I taunted and I teased I prompted and I pleased I got down on my knees To give you what you need Now that I got your attention There's one thing I should mention I can erase all your tension If you just give me affection So please make a decision And use your own ambition Love is only a condition Of emotional addiction by: Anne Shiever 2000 ---------------------------------------- LOVE IN SEASONS Source: Captivated In the Heart Of Love And Romance, (2005) , p. In the springtime we shared new beginnings Searching the rivers For cattails and fragrant flowers Camping in the outdoors The river's song was ours Under the pale moonlight Beneath the cottonwood trees You kissed me And held me Then set my heart free Summer would bring us Golden wheat-fields and sunflowers Then we'd sit and just talk For hours upon hours The meadowlark would sing His joyous melody As we made intimate moves Together in sweet harmony In the fall we would go For a drive to see the view Or an array of multiple colors Posing on for me and you Sometimes we would stop In an open field for romance Whispering softly I love you With a warm-hearted glance In the wintertime The cold winds would blow Then we would cuddle close And wait for the winter snow Tis the time for dreaming Love is always in season For passion and romance You never need a reason by: Anne Shiever 2005 ------------------------------------------- Editor's Rating: 5 laurels out of 5 laurels. | What inspired Anne to write this poem "Love Letters": My husband traveled alot when we first met, and we would write letters back and forth. I would tell him how things were going for me and my son, and then I would wander off into fantasy land and tell him how much I loved him. Before we knew it, we wrote love letters back and forth. Our friendship grew into passion and romance over the years, and when he came back home again we couldn't wait to be in each other's arms. He made my dream come true and I was a millenium bride with a beautiful Las Vegas Wedding on Jan 1, 2005. To this day, Zane still creates a fantasy for me whenever he is away, and when he returns home; romance sparks like the first time we were together as one. I hope that we will always feel that way about one another as he now drives over the road again as a Truck Driver. --------------------------------- This poem is one of the poems in my newest poetry book CAPTIVATED In The Heart Of Love & Romance which is available through the author at Anne's Angel Publishing which is a branch of Anne's Collectibles & Gifts 152 N. | What inspired Anne to write this poem "Love In Seasons" : I wrote this poem to bring out the beauty of nature in all the seasons, and also the inimacy of love and romance. I hope it enhances your senses of love, feelings, and the beauty of nature as the seasons change from year to year. Who doesn't like to go for a long drive with the one they love, take a camping trip, or simply cuddle together by the fireplace. Time is precious and so are the moments. Try to make each one special! ----------------------------- This poem can be found in my newest poetrybook CAPTIVATED In The Heart Of Love & Romance, which is available through the author at Anne's Angel Publishing which is a branch of Anne's Collectibles & Gifts 152 N. | Poetry Review by Andrew Angus Title of Poem: Love in Seasons Source: Captivated- In the Heart Of Love And Romance, (2005) Author: Anne Shiever (Kansas) Rating: 5 laurels out of 5 laurels. Does love only happen on Valentine's Day? The poem "Love In Seasons" reveals that love does not only happen on Valentine's Day. Love, according to Anne happens in the four seasons. In other words, love happens throughout the year and not only on Valentine's Day. In the first stanza, our poet from Kansas, Anne, describes her experiences about love in Spring: "In the springtime we shared new beginnings Searching the rivers For cattails and fragrant flowers Camping in the outdoors The river's song was ours Under the pale moonlight Beneath the cottonwood trees You kissed me And held me Then set my heart free" The poet describes describes her experiences about love in Summer: "Summer would bring us Golden wheat-fields and sunflowers Then we'd sit and just talk For hours upon hours The meadowlark would sing His joyous melody As we made intimate moves Together in sweet harmony" The poet describes her experiences about love in Autumn: "In the fall we would go For a drive to see the view Or an array of multiple colors Posing on for me and you Sometimes we would stop In an open field for romance Whispering softly I love you With a warm-hearted glance" The poet describes describes her experiences about love in Winter: "In the wintertime The cold winds would blow Then we would cuddle close And wait for the winter snow" The last four lines are words of wisdom coming from Anne. "Tis the time for dreaming Love is always in season For passion and romance You never need a reason" Finally, the poet says "love is always in season". I strongly agree. Love never fades unlike fashion. This poem "Love In Seasons" is nominated "Best Poem of Year 2005" for the 2nd Muses Prize - Poetry. |
| Poetry Review by Andrew Angus Title of Poem: Love Letters Source: Captivated- In the Heart Of Love And Romance, (2005) Author: Anne Shiever (Kansas) Rating: 5 laurels out of 5 laurels. How many of us keep love letters? Are love letters still used in modern courtship? In the 21st century, did romantic greeting cards replace the old fashioned love letters in the 1940's, 1970's, 1980's? Perhaps, in this 21st century, the "email love letters" has replaced the "pen-written love letters" of yesteryears. Since the invention of the email in the 1990's, electronice greeting cards and email love letters have almost replaced the postman-delivered pen-written love letters. Here is a poem that captured my attention - Love Letters. In this poem, Anne reveals the powerful influence of printed words of love in letters. "He wrote me love letters To sweep me off my feet Of places he would take me Or erotic magic when we meet" Anne reveals the role of the postman during the time of pen-written love letters. Anne reveals that a love letter is comparable to a real kiss and real touch from her male beloved as revealed in the following lines: "I'd wait for Mr. Postman And a letter from my man How he would kiss me softly And touch me with his hands" Love letters keep us in touch with our beloved and make us smile when the love letters are read: "He would use little phrases Like "Pounding rod in a hurry" I'd smile as I read them Then answered back--not to worry I'd save each love letter My man was really quite a flirt " What is the purpose of keeping love letters? Anne reveals in the following lines: "Tucked away in a special box With his worn out welding shirt Whenever I did miss him I'd read them one by one A romance by little letters Until the job was done " Anne also writes love letters to her beloved in return and anticipates the next kiss even though that kiss is in the form of a love letter: "I'd write back to him Loving thoughts of what I missed I'd write about tomorrow And anticipate that next kiss" I did not realize the powerful effect of love letters on women until I read Anne Shiever's poem "Love Letters". Anne says the aftereffects of love letters linger on and create a "magic, erotic moments" as revealed in the following lines: "Then, when he did return Two hearts were set on fire And not a word was spoken Who knows what hearts desire It started with love letters He swept me off my feet All places create a magic Erotic moments when we meet" Anne was able to capture the importance of love letters during the days of pen-written letters delivered by postman.. Hence, this poem is nominated Best Poem of Year 2005 for 2nd Muses Prize - Poetry. |
